Catch up

Deciding to blog again comes with problems. All sorts of things I took for granted 6 years ago, when I blogged regularly, have changed. I suspect the biggest change is actually in me . The technology seems to have advanced beyond my capabilities. However, I’m hoping that eventually I’ll get back to the point of being able to post, to comment on others posts and list my favourites on my page so others can enjoy what I enjoy. Until then, please make allowances for me.

6 years, lots has happened for all of us. Undoubtedly covid has affected us all. One of my dearest friends died in March 2020, no one called it covid then, but as she died in a care home, just days before we all locked down, it is very likely she was one of  the first deaths.

I’ve lost a few other dear friends since then. My wonderful brother in law, my boyfriend from my time in America, two other much missed male friends…and one of the most beautiful and talented educators and local politicians it was possible to know, all dying well before what should have been their time.

On the other hand, the 2 or was it 3 grandchildren we had when I last blogged, have turned into 8 grandchildren. The two eldest have just started at 6th from college, and of the youngest 3, two are now in year 1, and baby Winnie is fast approaching 2 years old, and amusing us with her insistence on doing everything big sister, 5 year old Joy gets up to.

Brexit happened…. It has made some differences for us of course. Mostly though, as we were granted permanent ( renewable every 10 years) cartes des séjours, we come and go between Yorkshire and Caunes as we have done for the last 13 years.

There are other things that have happened in during my blogging gap that I’m sure will feature here ( when I get the hang of it again) . In the meantime, it feels good to be back, and so lovely to be reading other people’s blogs.

  1. Good start Janice. And haven't things changed in 6 years!! I found it easy to log back into my blog with Google, as I use that as my (hmm don't know what the technical word is, but I use it for everything lol). It also enables me to carry on with my existing blog and comment on others. So far so good....BUT haven't a clue what to do next. The technical stuff is quite beyond me!

  2. A lot of changes over the years but one constant....the daft changes in blogging technology - if one can dignify it with that description - which get in the way of communication!

  3. I feel your pain with all the changes in the Blogger dashboard, Janice. It took me SO long yesterday to set up my new blog and actually write a short post. Hopefully practice will make perfect for us both. Your sad mention of friends and family dying before their time is mirrored in my experience of the last 6 years. My sympathies.
